Check out this morning's top movers from around Wall Street, compiled by The Fly. 


HIGHER -

  • Kansas City Southern (KSU) and Canadian Pacific (CP) are up 14% and 2%, respectively, after Canadian National (CNI) announced that it has made a "superior proposal" to the CP proposal, under which the company will combine with Kansas City Southern in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at $33.7B, or $325 per share
  • Advance Auto Parts (AAP) up 2% after saying it expects comparable store sales to grow 22%-24% in Q1


UP AFTER EARNINGS -

  • AutoNation (AN) up 2%
  • Silvergate Capital (SI) up 2%
  • IBM (IBM) up 2%


DOWN AFTER EARNINGS -

  • Abbott (ABT) down 3%
  • Lockheed Martin (LMT) down 1%


LOWER -

  • Canadian National down 6% after announcing that it has made a "superior proposal" to combine with Kansas City Southern in a cash-and-stock transaction valued at $33.7B
  • Virgin Galactic (SPCE) down 8% after the disclosure by Cathie Wood's ARK Investment Management last night that the fund sold over 590K shares
  • Altria (MO) down 6% after the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday afternoon that the Biden administration is considering requiring tobacco companies to lower the nicotine levels of all cigarettes sold in the U.S. to levels at which they are no longer addictive
